New Love: Prussian Blue

The most amazing discovery has been this wonderful color called Prussian Blue. It is absolutely perfect for what I am trying to achieve. Hope it gives you as much joy as it does me.

Trying a new technique. Well actually it is a very old technique but I am doing it for the first time. It was used by early painters during the Renaissance after oils had been made popular by artists such as Van Dyke. The technique involves using a dark brown as a neutral base to plot out all of the highlights and shadows of the painting. Then it is simply a matter of adding color over those areas. We will see if it makes a difference.

Ellie the Pug Finished

14 x 17 inch fine art commission. Drawn with Prismacolor Premier color pencils on a Strathmore 400 series piece of drawing paper. Heavy duty paper with a medium texture. 100% Cotton.

Ellie was paralized from the waist down and had to be put down on August 2nd 2014. May she rest in peace, and hopefully this drawing will bring comfort to her owner Pat.

Certified Michael's Instructor

I am now teaching painting classes at the Michael's in Jordan Landing.

First week of the month is Tuesday : seascape 1, Wednesday : seascape 2, and Saturday : Portrait 2.

Second week is Tuesday : landscape 1, Wednesday : landscape 2, and Saturday : Portrait 2.

Third week is Tuesday : still life 1, Wednesday : still life 2, and Saturday : Portrait 2.

Fourth week is Tuesday : floral 1, Wednesday : animals 2, and Saturday : portrait 2.

Level 1 classes are just $25 for a 2-3 hour lesson.
Level 2 classes are just $50 for a 3-4 hour class.

If you sign up for a class you can receive $20 off towards your materials. You are also welcome to bring whatever you already have.
